As you all probably know, the normal human urine has yellow color, but many times it appears to be different.
People may be concerned about changes in the color of their urine. This may include discoloration, murkiness and sometimes even blood.
These changes, however, should be considered as warning that indicates there is something wrong going on in your body.

What changes in urine color may mean
Urine is a sterile liquid which is a product of cellular metabolism and is expelled from the body.
Usually the color varies from a translucent yellow to amber. The color has that appearance, due to a pigment which is called urochrome, which is the result of the breakdown of hemoglobin.
When the color of your urine has a darker shade (amber) it usually a result of dehydration.
In this case, you shouldn’t panic you simply need to drink more water.
The color is often affected by certain food items, beverages and in many instances diseases from which one suffers.

However, sometimes you can notice a color which is completely different from the ones shown in the table on the next page. Therefore, here are some points on how to identify the meaning of the color of your urine.
Green or blue urine color- This color is usually a result of something that you ate. Food items or beverages that are colored with artificial color may affect the change. In many instances, asparagus is shown to change the color, and even the odor of your urine. Red or pink urine color- Food items such as beets, blueberries or rhubarb can couse urine to have a reddish color. Also, laxatives and some prescription drugs can also cause red urine. If you have not consumed any food that may couse a reddish color to your urine it may also be a sign of blood in your urine. Murky urine – This can be a sign of kidney desease, urinary tract infections, kidney stones, prostate problems or cancer. In some cases it can also appear as a result of dehydration. This may also be a result of liver or bile duct. Foamy structure – One of the common causes of a foamy urine can be rapid urination. Occasionally, it may also be a sign of dehydration, and foamy urine indicates that it is concentrated. However, if you pass foamy urine frequently, it may be a sign of an underlying disease or condition which needs medical evaluation.
